    READ THIS!

The reason I stumbled upon this site is because I have Alopecia Areata (a bald patch appearing very suddenly on my head) and I looked frantically for a cure. This was about two and a half months ago. I immediately swept up all the herbs I could find that helped reverse this, and now I am regrowing my hair. Quite happy for this.

I understand this is about green tea, and while I totally vouch for the great things green tea does, I also wish to bring people to a few more options…

Look into matcha. Matcha is a powder mix made directly from the green tea leaves itself, instead of soaking nutrients out of the leaves. It is said that one single cup of matcha mixed with water is equivalent to 10 cups of green tea.

    Also…

If you’re looking to strengthen hair/regrow/prevent loss, please keep reading! I will list what I have done to make my hair so much better…

    My absolute Godsend? CASTOR OIL!

Pure castor oil, applied to the scalp before bedtime or during the day for about a half hour to an hour, has showed results VERY quickly. It’s thick and while it doesn’t have a very strong odor, it does have one you will notice. Sometimes you can mix it with grapeseed extract for smell, but honestly, I doubt you’re going to mind if it means you getting your hair back. Do some research! Look how it’s helped people! And it’s inexpensive to boot!

Also, you can mix it in with your conditioner in the shower (try not to use shampoo, as it doesn’t mix well with it). Keep it in there for about 15 minutes and wash it out either with just water or a bit of shampoo. It’s great.

The supplements (mostly herbal) I have been taking (please research each one on your own, as typing up explanations on each one would take forever) alongside castor oil are as follows…

    All in pill/capsule form…
    Fo-Ti
    Biotin
    Turmeric
    Omega-3 Fish Oil
    Ginger
    Dandelion Root
    Burdock Root
    Echinacea Goldenseal
    Multivitamin
    CoQ10 (800 – 1000mg a day)

These herbs have wonderful healing properties well beyond growing hair (like preventing cancer!). Some may not contribute, but I wanted to let you know exactly what I am taking just in case it played a part even a little with my swift progress.

It may seem like a lot, but in actuality, all of these supplements are generally inexpensive (CoQ10 can get pricey). I use Amazon for most everything! CoQ10 prices are cut in half compared to the stores!

Thank God to my Alopecia Areata. Because now I am on so many more herbal supplements to improve my life in so many ways. If it weren’t for this, I wouldn’t have come to this point in my life. I am very happy I have, but even more happy that my hair is growing back and I can finally schedule a haircut!

GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS TO ALL OF YOU! Remember, even these things that seem so terrible happen for a reason! You don’t know what hardships you could end up preventing by finding a solution to a different problem!

        Sam,

If you are 13 and have lost the top front-hair then first thing to do is to see a doctor. You are very young for male-pattern baldness and it might be something else completely.

You should drink the green tea. There are many out there but one of my favourites is the brand “double dragon”. Boil the kettle then allow to cool for about 3 min then pour over tea bag. Leave tea bag in for atleast 5 min. Drink a few of these a day. It’s very healthy.

I am Fawad from Kabul Afghanistan. I am a big believer in natural remedies. I have a question about drinking green tea. Is it OK to drink green tea COLD or perhaps cause I don’t want to waste my time drinking 7 glass of green tea.

I am currently using minoxidil, drinking green tea. I am not sure if I can rub pumpkin seed oil on my scalp after applying or using minoxidil. Can anyone help with this as well.

            Thanks a bunch in advance.

              Mohammad,

No reason why you can’t drink Green Tea cold. But brew it hot first and allow it to cool down and/or add in some ice cubes. Also, better to take pumpkin seed oil internally rather than applying it to your hair.

Nice article & comments. I read most of them. Marko Rollo may be right. I also read that Propecia may destroy libido 🙁 I had also read that masturbation may cause DHT, Is this true or does it not matter when you have sex life too. I started loosing my hair when I was 27 or so. I’m 31 now and have lost a lot of hair. I’m not bald but a lot of hair are gone from my scalp at this area called crown or so. I did pills a doctor told me but they didn’t do much. He has given me a spray which I’m using nowadays but it doesn’t seem to effect either. What causes this DHT or 5-Alpha-Redutase? Many people still have thick hair when they are old. Is any of you guys having low libido after consuming green tea?

The only side effects for Greent Tea are healthy ones and it does have caffeine so will be a stimulant.

Stop using minoxidil, propecia and the like. It’s unnatural, has side effects and hair starts to fall out immediately if you stop using it. Look after your hair the safer and healthier way. Will be more permanent and you’ll end up healthier too 🙂

Two more tips for a healthier head of hair.

1: Rosemary and Lavender as a topical use is very good. Don’t use the oils neat but dilute in a coconut base oil then massage into scalp. Leave in for atleast 30min then wash out. Neals Yard does a very good ready made jar of the stuff.

                      2: Teas that are good:

                      Green Tea of course 🙂
                      Nettle Tea
                      Horsetail Tea

Jack you are too young to lose hair, make sure you wash it 2 times a day, morning and evening to remove the surface sebum and nasty hormones this will slow your hairloss. Never go to bed with a greasy or sweaty scalp. Haven’t you noticed how all people that lose their hair have greasy, shiny scalps?

                                  Hello All,

The best remedies would be natural. I did tones of research on hair loss and I found the following helpful and without side effect.

                                  1. Hair Oils – Jojoba, Castor, Olive, Pumpkin Seed Oil, Lavender, Aloe Vera, Almond, Coconut and Mustard Oils

Usage: I use the mixture of two oil per two days and leave it and then wash it, of course I use organic and pure ones.

                                  2. Tablets – Saw Palmetto, Nu Hair Tabs, Multivitamins, Priorin and others but make sure they are natural. I know that some of the natural medicines have side effects of their own even.

Usage: I take tablets randomly. For example, I take Priorin one day and take multivitamin another day and so on.

                                  3. Scalp Massage – I daily massage my scalp two times or sometimes perhaps three times gently not harshly … Google how to massage

                                  4. Hair Pulling – Start pulling your hair slightly and hold for 20 seconds. Do this for 10 minutes and of course use your senses how much you need it and be gentle.

                                  5. Hair Dieting – Start eating lots of nuts like pumpkin seed, almond, raisin. Eat lots of vegetables, green leaf veggies, fish, meat, drink 8 glass of water, drink tea and other related stuff that you can research from the internet.

                                  6. Reduce Stress – Whatever stress you have stop NOW. If you can’t at least start working on it right away and try to solve it. Just give it a damn try to stop stress or at least stop worrying about losing hair.

                                  7. Start exercising – Do whatever type of sport you can play or do. Bodybuilding, Jogging, Yoga etc – Do palming (google this). Make sure your body doesn’t stuck doing nothing behind the desk or watching tv or whatever.

                                  8. Meditation – Start doing meditation that is related to hair health.

                                  9. Do not use Minioxidil and propecia until you don’t fully know their side effects and understand that these remedies are only temporary or until you use them. The soon you stop the hair fall will start

                                  10. Start collecting money for your hair transplant but do tones of research and choose the best doctor. Hasson and Wong is the best according their results, Alvi Armani himself is the second best in my opinion.

                                  11. At the end if you are tired and want to give up just embrace the baldness and don’t give a damn about what people think or say how you look like. 😉

I wrote this after thinking a lot about my hair loss and frustration. I am Fawad from Kabul Afghanistan. Comments are welcome. My email add is fawadakhtari AT Hotmail. So do drop a line if you want to share experiences etc. Cheers and be happy guys and make JOY the first priority in life.

Hey guys I’m 39 with thinning hair and I really don’t care too much about it. I have been drinking green tea daily for 3 months now and I have noticed my hair has gotten thicker. I figure it must be the tea because I haven’t been doing anything else different. I googled it and found this article and thought I would weigh in for some of you who might be wondering whether green tea works on your hair.

I’m drinking the tea for health reasons ( anti-inflammatory ), the hair thing is just an unintended benefit for me. I wasn’t looking for it, and didn’t even know that it would have any effect on my hair. There is no doubt that some of the areas that were showing skin in the back are darker and the corners are thicker.

                                        Hi Guys,

it’s late but I just wanted to share with you a “new” product that i’ve found. Ok so it’s not so new on the market but i’ve recently discovered it.

                                        Weleda: Rosemary Hair Lotion

Nice lotion for your hair and scalp. Apply it after a shower on damp hair – massage gently into scalp and hair and leave in. Has a nice smell to it and it’s very nourishing.

Has essential oils Rosmary and Lavender in it plus other nutrients to give you a healthier scalp and more manageable hair. Encourages hair growth and conditions.

Not a miracle lotion on it’s own but used in conjunction with your daily routine can only help.

                                                  UPDATE

                                                  Hi All,

Here is a bit of an update. I’ve decided that i’m fed up of swallowing pills (honestly, I was turning into a vitamin pill junky) and think i’m going to take the all round healthier approach. Tell me what you think… I’ve come up with an idea of smoothies for hair loss. All these vitamins have small amounts of actual vitamins/herbs etc and the rest is filler (not mentioning the capsule). Taking one is ok but when you start to take many I think it’s unhealthy as you’re putting into your body all this rubbish that comes with it. Cannot be healthy. Besides ofr the sheer quantity of pills that one needs to take it’s also not healthy for your stomach. So back to my idea of smoothies… Just bought myself a smoothie machine (arriving in the next few days) and going to buy pure unadulterated Saw Palmetto powder, pumpkin seeds and the like. Then i’m going to make them into a delicious smoothie with vitamins from fresh fruit and perhaps a base of green tea etc. This will be healthier imho. Tell me what you think and any ideas for recipes would be very welcome.

Green tea does wonder on your face too. I use green tea as a toner and it really reduces the redness and inflammation of the acne on my face. You can actually see the difference the very next day.

I will now try some on my head as my hair was thinning due to stress, anxiety and panic attacks I suffered from 4 years ago.

                                                        summary of the study :

1)found 3 times higher in bald area’s than in area’s with hair on Males with Androgenic alopecia

2)This protien is inhabitor for hair growth (hair in bald scalp still there but not able to grow tofull potential due to the Prostaglandin inhibiting effect

3)when human hair where tested on lab by applying prostaglanin d2 hair growth was inhibited

4)when Prostaglandin D2 was applied to mice they developed Androgenic alopecia and all its symptoms

(we find that a transgenic mouse, K14-Ptgs2, which targets prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2 expression to the skin, demonstrates elevated levels of PGD2 in the skin and develops alopecia, follicular miniaturization, and sebaceous gland hyperplasia, which are all hallmarks of human AGA. These results define PGD2 as an inhibitor of hair growth in AGA and suggest the PGD2-GPR44 pathway as a potential target for treatment. )

Follow these. Next time you would be answering to hair loss problems instead of questioning.

Eat Fenugreek, Curry leaves, Goose Beery (Amla), Tulsi (Ocimum Sanctum), Dates, Greens, Nuts and Zinc rich products

                                                          Drink Green Tea, more water

Use Henna for Hair coloring and not colors/dyes.

Wash you hair with Shikakai (Acacia concinna – Botanical name) and Arappu thool(Tamil, Albizia amara – Botanical name).

Indian Ayurveda acts very slow, but you will get permanent results.

                                                          All the best.

I suggest drinking 4 to 6 cups of green tea a day and using right after drank the tea bag squeezing it firmly on a small recipient and then apply it content very gently on scalp. It’s allways better doing it fresh after prepared and after having drunk it to avoid properties decreased by oxidation.
All green tea is good but I’ve been using chinese green tea GT701 of any mark(check numbers), finding this particular stock type of tea more beneficial to hair loss and other scalp health problems. It burns fat magically and you will notice its effects instantly noticing how you eliminate toxins and fats through urine.
Green tea should be prepared with boiled water, adding it after you served the water into a mug or cup, waited a little bit and then adding the tea to avoid burning it and killing some properties. It’s important that you don’t make your scalp enter in contact with high temperature water when bathing or using any kind of tea on it and to treat it very gently. Don’t rub on a brutish way..or you’ll end loosing more hair than the one you’ve gain by this process….Try to apply that remanent of tea ,squeezing the tea bags, on scalp after washing your head, wich you should do every single day with lulewarm water and extremely gently.

This works, in combo with Green Tea. My barber IS the one who told me to try this combo. He was correct. I also use Biotin 5,000 MG per day. I had receded, and maybe learned to deal with that. However, one day, someone took a picture, and i saw my scalp on top of my head. That Is when It was over. See, The DHT needs to be blocked.
